Here are five places we recommend when you visit Georgetown!

Sincerely Yours 1848
With a play on Georgetown’s motto ‘Sincerely Yours,” this adorable boutique located in the heart of the town square will having you shopping till you drop. There’s always so many great finds!

The Daytripper World Headquarters
Texas is big, there’s no doubt about it but what does the rest look like? Chet Garnder, whose show has been featured on PBS, helps you explore every corner of Texas! While in Georgetown you can shop some of Chet’s favorite local goodies at his World Headquarters store (it’s right next door to the entrance to one of the square’s newest restaurants and bars Barrels and Amps).

Gumbos North
Not only is Gumbos located inside the coolest looking building in Georgetown but it’s also delicious. The lounge like restaurant offers Cajun and Creole favorites with the added bonus of live music! If your pallet isn’t quite as adventurous, try 600 Degrees – you can never go wrong with pizza.

Mesquite Creek Outfitters
This feels like cheating because it’s a store and bar, that also offers food via food trucks on select nights. They serve lots of local beers and wines as well as carrying a wide variety of high end outdoor casual clothing and unique finds. It’s a great spot with a great atmosphere located right in a historic building.

All Things Kids
This place has it all, literally. Regardless of your age or the age of the person you’re shopping for, All Things Kids has something for you. Did we mention they serve ice cream? Enjoy the Most Beautiful Town Square in Texas while savoring the exceptional old fashioned ice cream at Scoops, located inside All Things Kids.

Bonus:

There are so many great things to do in Georgetown, we couldn’t pick just five.

Take a walk off the square to Monument Cafe! The Cafe is a tribute to the now vanished roadside cafes of Texas and the families who operated them, serving simple but satisfying food. Matthew McConaughey and Guy Fieri dined here on an episode of “Drive Ins, Diners and Dives.” They dined on the King Ranch chicken casserole and Pig ‘n Waffle.

Speaking of monuments, you can also try El Monumento which is owned and operated by the restaurateurs who pioneered Monument Cafe. Not only do they serve up delicious food and drinks but their patio provides lovely views of Blue Hole.

FUN FACT:

You can have beer and wine on the street in Georgetown, which is a great perk when they have festivals and other events – or anytime really!

If you’re thinking Georgetown seems like a great place to live, you would be right! Georgetown is a growing suburb of Austin, with five new apartment communities built over the last three years. Between those newer apartment complexes and the existing properties built prior to 2019, there is a variety of traditional, tax-credit, and senior living apartment options in Georgetown.

The heat of the market isn’t necessarily escaped by taking a drive North past Austin proper. Those newer apartments mentioned earlier start their studios around $1300, with larger 1 bedrooms going as high as $1600. If budget is a concern, there are a handful of older apartment complexes that start their units around $1150, but those tend to lease quickly. Those tax credit properties are also a great option for those who qualify.

Ultimately, Georgetown is not totally catered towards apartment renters. The limited quantity of properties means high competition and high rates. Home rentals under private landlords seem to be a more popular choice for renters in Georgetown. However, if apartment communities are more your speed, a $1400 budget is sufficient to have several options to choose from.

If you’re looking to rent a Georgetown apartment, Smart City Locating can help narrow down a spot that checks all of your boxes. Go to head to Smart City to get your search started today!
